Highbank 'Red Gate' Self-Guided Orchard Walk

Highbank 'Red Gate Orchard Walk' follows a trail through our gardens and orchards using the QR coded vernacular red gates and pillars. Forged hundreds of years ago in the farmyard of Highbank and by other Irish blacksmiths, these gates mark the way to listen to our family history and workings of our 5th generation farm.

What customers and visitors are saying about Highbank Orchards

Close up of apple blossom on tree branch.
So, apples is what you get, and what they make is a syrup that is also a tonic. This is a great product, ... when it comes to the morning porridge here at McKenna Central. But it's not just breakfast that benefits from Highbank Syrup: slug it on some ice cream, or a slice of warm apple tart, and you have orchard heaven.
Sally McKenna, McKenna Guides
My school group just toured the grounds and facility and the history of the farm is absolutely fascinating. The owners are hospitable and knowledgeable. You will love at least one of the many things that they produce on site.

Whether you're an organic grower, or a conventional farmer curious about integrating organic practices on part of your farm, these farm walks will offer valuable insights, practical advice, and a chance to connect with fellow farmers.

Highbank Orchard Products are created & crafted by Rod & Julie Calder-Potts, owners, inventors, distillers, designers,  custodians…. Sports of Nature, possessed of an almost superhuman ability to understand an orchard, an apple and a multitudinous way of working.
John McKenna, McKenna Guides
The history of the farm, which was fascinating. ...... great insights into what life is like on the farm and discussing what goes into the various products they make (Ciders, Brandy, Gin etc.). The grounds are amazing. From the beautiful rows of apple frees, to the horses and geese, I really felt like I was getting back to nature.
