The Cottage Garden
The Cottage Garden Kinsale began as a tiny seed, that was sown in 2014, oblivious of the fruitful journey ahead. Founder Jason Linton moved into a humble little cottage in Dunderrow, and immediately felt drawn to develop the small 1/2 acre field into something of more abundant usefulness. Having studied permaculture in Kinsale, Jason was eager to put what he had learned into practice. With occasional help from his friends, Jason cleared the brambles and nettles, set down 2 polytunnels, and began growing!
4 years into its life, the small market garden produced €3000 worth of ‘chemical-free food. Although a humble amount, there is something immensely valuable about local and chemical-free food, that simply cannot be measured.
However, Jason realised that he could not make a living from this small patch alone, and yet all he wanted to do was feed the community with the healthiest of produce!
So Jason decided to use the skills he had learned from his 7 years running the superfood company Iswari, combined with his knowledge and passion of healthy food to set up a Veg Box Scheme, delivering the best chemical-free produce to the people of Kinsale, sourcing his produce from other local growers and importing what cannot be grown here to supplement his own produce.
In the first year of business, Jason has delivered hundreds of boxes to approximately 50 regular customers weekly.
We hope you will jump on board too!
